Every once in a while an album comes out of nowhere and blows me away. This is the case with the new Dirty Projectors long player titled, Bitte Orca. It is so fresh; unlike anything I've heard. Sure there are elements of David Byrne (THeads) and Afro-pop interwoven in the fabric but it is their own unified brand of music which is all the more glorious for its strangeness. The vocal harmonies are beautiful and angular guitar work as expected with Longstreth and company. If you are fan of their previous stuff, you'll love it and if you have never heard them you will be even more in love with Bitte Orca. This is my pick for album of the year so far....Get out and hear it. Listen [mp3] to "No Intention"
