High Noon Saloon - $13 adv $15 DOS - 18+
I hope that by now you have acted on our recommendation and purchased your tickets for this upcoming show!
All of us at MMR are long-time fans of The Sea and Cake. . . Here is a cool video to whet your appetite of The Sea and Cake from their recent sold-out show at the Troubadour in LA (05.19.2007). [VIDEO]
I think this has potential "show of the year" written all over it! . . . Don't you agree?
In anticipation of the upcoming show I recently picked up The Zincs' new recording - Black Pompadour. I've been listening to it regularly and really enjoying it. The Zincs are a Chicago-based band and is composed of Nathaniel Braddock on guitar and unprepared piano, Nick Macri on bass and saxophone octet, Jason Toth on drums and James Elkington "singing, writing the songs and making most of the other noises." Black Pompadour was recorded and mixed by John McEntire - of Tortoise and The Sea and Cake fame - and fans of these bands will recognize his lively, spare, and intimate sound production. James Elkington is very comfortable in the lower vocal register and his dark yet warm tone often reminds me of Nick Cave (which is a good thing, indeed). I also like how the band will explode into short bursts of musical madness. . . I plan to arrive in time to catch their warmup set. I hope to see you there, too!
